Configuring MD3 for MMEx Mail

Medical Director 3 can be configured to allow for sending MMEx Messages.

MD3 uses Microsoft Outlook to send messages. So, in order to use MD3 to send MMEx messages you must configure Outlook so that the program integrates with MMEx. By undertaking the following simple steps, you will be able to configure Outlook so that the program integrates with MMEx.

Check to make sure you have the MMEx Client downloaded onto your machine. To check if you have installed the client on your individual machine go to the Windows tool bar at the bottom of the screen. If you see the following [pic here] symbol near the clock, you have installed the Client (when checking, you may need to extend the toolbar by clicking on the < symbol on the bottom right hand side of the screen to show hidden icons). If you don’t have the MMEx Client installed, follow the instructions in MMEx Technical Help Sheet 6: Installing the MMEx Client, before undertaking the steps outlined below.

Open up Outlook on your computer. Select the Tools menu from the top tool bar, and then click on the Account Settings option.

If you are already using Outlook for your other email accounts, you will notice the details of those accounts displayed in the accounts setting page. To add your MMEx account, select the NEW option. Then select the Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP option in the Choose E-mail Service box that appeared after you selected New. Finally click Next (see Figure 2).

Ignore the requests for information in the Auto Account Setup box and select the Manually Configure server settings or additional server types option in the bottom left hand corner of the box. Then press Next. Finally press Next on the new box that appears (identical to that shown in figure 2).

Click on the Outgoing Server Tab, then click on the My outgoing server (STTP) requires authentication box, and then select the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option.

If you want to make sure that you keep a copy of your emails MMEx mail box (a good idea if you want to access your MMEx mail remotely), click on the Advanced Tab and select the Leave a copy of messages on the server option. Click OK.

Upon returning to the Internet E-mail settings page, click on the Test Account Settings buttons. If the system set up is successful you will be notified and you can then click Next on the Internet E-mail settings page, which will complete the integration.

If the test fails, double check to make sure you haven’t missed any of the steps outlined above. If the problem continues, contact the GSMHN Help Desk.

Your MMEx emails will now be visible in Microsoft Outlook. If you have more than one email account operating in Outlook, your MMEx messages will be automatically entered into their own file, not the main inbox.

For instructions on sending and receiving MMEx emails in Outlook, see MMEx Help Sheet 3. For Instructions on importing the MMEx Address Book into Outlook, see MMEx Technical Help Sheet 1.

MD3 will automatically open Outlook when you elect to email a letter composed in the program. For instructions on sending MMEx mail via MD3, see MMEx Help Sheet 15.
