Configuring Mozilla Thunderbird for Integration with MMEx

Mozilla Thunderbird can be configured to allow for the importation of MMEx documents.

MMEx users can configure Mozilla Thunderbird so that they can send and receive MMEx messages within Thunderbird. By undertaking the following simple steps, you will be able to configure Thunderbird so that the program integrates with MMEx.

Check to make sure you have the MMEx Client downloaded onto your machine. To check if you have installed the client on your individual machine go to the Windows tool bar at the bottom of the screen. If you see the following Symbol.png symbol near the clock, you have installed the Client (when checking, you may need to extend the toolbar by clicking on the < symbol on the bottom right hand side of the screen to show hidden icons). If you don't have the MMEx Client installed, follow the instructions for Installing the MMEx Client, before undertaking the steps outlined below.

Open up Thunderbird on your computer. Select the Tools menu from the top tool bar, and then click on the Account Settings option.

If you are already using Thunderbird for your other email accounts, you will notice the details of those accounts displayed in the accounts setting page. To add your MMEx account, select the Add Account button on the bottom left hand side of the screen. When the New Account Setup box opens make sure the Email Account option has been selected before clicking on Next (see figure 2).

In the Server Information Box, make sure the POP option is highlighted. Enter localhost as the name of the Incoming Server (see figure 4).

If you are using other email accounts in Thunderbird and wish for your MMEx emails to be stored separately, make sure the Use Global Inbox (store mail in Local Folders) option is NOT selected. Click Next.

In the Incoming Username box, make sure your MMEx username has been entered correctly before clicking Next. In the account name box, enter MMEx then click Next.

The Account Wizard will now display a summary of the email account you wish to import. If everything looks correct, press Finish. You will then return to the main Thunderbird page. Your MMEx account should be visible as a file on the left hand side of the screen (see figure 5).
