MMEx Medication Module Quick Reference Guide (Remote Area Health Services, Compiled by Remote MMEx Project Officer, Version 5 - September 2010)
The following is covered below:
Click on the Patients tab in the top menu, select your patient from the list and click on the Medications tab in the left side menu. To add a new medication to a patient record, click on the Add Med button. The Add New Medication pop-up box will appear (Figure 1).

Type the name of the drug into the Search for Drug field and click Search (or press enter).
A list of matching medications will pop up. Search through the list for the appropriate drug (noting the form, strength, quantity and PBS) and select the item by clicking on it (Figure 2).

You will then see that the details for the medication are filled out in the appropriate boxes in the Add New Medication box, without you having to fill it out manually. Ensure that the details given are correct and complete those not yet completed. Then click on the Add button. The medication will now appear in the Current Medications list on the patients record.
To prescribe a medication right click on the a medication in the patient's in the Current Medications list and choose Prescribe from the drop down list, for an already existing medication. Alternatively you can click on the Prescribe link above the list and create a script for a new medication, not previously listed in the Current Medications list.
Adding a new prescription is very similar to adding a medication to the current medications list. Search for the drug and select the correct one from the list to automatically complete the fields below. Complete any fields that did not automatically complete yourself and click the Add button (Figure 3).

The prescribed medication will now be listed on the Scripts view. To view or edit previously made scripts, simply select Scripts from the drop down list above the list of current medications (Figure 4).

To print a script for one of the medications prescribed to a patient, first ensure that you are in the Scripts view (see Figure 4, above).
Click on the check box next to the medication you wish to print a script for (Figure 5).

Then click the Print Scripts button on the right side of the screen (Figure 6).

Next, open the PDF document that MMEx generates to view your script

Finally, to print, select Print from File in the menu at the top of your screen (or press CNTRL + P).
To dispense a medication, in the Current Medications view, right click on the medication and select Dispense from the drop down list that appears.

Complete the text fields where relevant in the New Dispense pop-up box.

Click Add.
The medication will then appear listed in the Dispensed Medications view (Figure 10).

To print a label for one of the medications listed for a patient, go to either the Dispensed Medications or Scripts view (see Figure 4, above).
Select check box for the medication you wish to print a label for. Next, click on the Print Labels button on the right side of the screen.

To print a label you must have a template specified. You can create this yourself by following the prompts. Alternatively, please contact us using the MMEx Contact Form (Select Contact Form from the About tab in the menu) and we can set this up for you.
Once you have a template, enter the batch number and expiry date into the text boxes provided and click Print (Figure 12).

Next, open the PDF document that MMEx generates to view your label.

Finally, to print, select Print from File in the menu at the top of your screen (or press CNTRL + P).
The Add to Favourites feature on the Medications page in MMEx allows you to create a list of your commonly used medications, which can then be more easily accessible.
To add a new medication to your Favourites list, start by clicking the Add Med button (Figure 14).

Type the name of the drug into the Search for Drug field and click Search (or press enter).
A list of matching medications will pop up. Search through the list for the appropriate drug (noting the form, strength, quantity and PBS) and select the item, slmply by clicking on it (Figure 15).
*Note: You must have MIMS installed for this

The medication details will then appear in the fields given below. Ensure that the details given are correct and complete the fields that are missing information such as Dose and Frequency.
Click the Add as Favourite button at the top of the screen to add this drug to your Favourites List (Figure 16).

A message will appear saying, "Added: [Drug Name} to favourites;".
If you wish to, you can add that drug to the patient record by clicking the Add button. To finish this step, then click Close.
To then add one of your favourite medications to a patient's record, click on the Patients tab in the top menu and select your patient by clicking on their name in the list.
Click on the Medications tab in the side menu. To access your Favourites List, select Favourite Medications from the drop down list, used to toggle the Medication page views (Figure 17).

Here you can see a list of the medications you have added. Your Favourites will appear and remain the same across all your patients, no matter which one you have open. To add a medication from this list to your patient's current medications, click the Add to Patient link (Figure 18). To remove an item fom your Favourite Medications list, simply click the Delete link.
