The button marked Compose in the top-left corner opens the interface for composing a new message.

Figure 1: Click on Compose
You can edit a message directly in the browser window and format it using formatting commands familiar to any user of Microsoft Word.
In addition this page provides access to the MMEx directory allowing you to look up MMEx users.
To create a message, simply enter a title or subject into the appropriate textfield.

And then start typing a message directly into the editing area immediately below the formatting toolbar.

Figure 3: Writing your message
If you wish to use a template for your message, select the patient & refer to options (if/as required), select the template you wish to insert and click the Insert button. If you are using a template which pulls information regarding a patient or the person you are referring a patient to these details MUST be indicated before clicking the Insert button.
In MMEx you do not type the recipient's email address but instead select it from the MMEx directory; this way it is not possible to mistype the address. If you already know part of the recipient's name, you can start typing it into the text field and automatically a menu will appear with any matching users.

Figure 4: Selecting the recipients
Select the desired participant from the drop down list of suggestions.
This step extracts the username that you have just selected and adds it to the recipient list for the message.
You can add further recipients to the message in the same way by selecting their address and then Add To Recipients. In addition, you can copy the message to someone by choosing CC from the menu to the left of the name.

Figure 5: Adding CC or BCC recipients
Any recipient of the message can examine the message details and find out who else the message was sent or copied to.
The BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) option allows the sender to send a copy to someone else in confidence, in that none of the other recipients are aware of this.
When the message is completed and recipients selected, pressing the Send button actually sends it. Alternatively the message can be saved to the Drafts folder for futher editing or entirely cancelled by pressing the appropriate buttons.
The message is delivered by MMEx to the recipient's mailbox and an ordinary email is sent to their regular email address informing them that a new MMEx message is waiting for them.
